It is used to illuminate opaque objects in stereomicroscopy. An attachment is mounted between the microscope head and zoom objective. The light source is in the lamphouse. The lamphouse is connected to the attachment via a flexible dual light guide. The light enters the attachment through the light guide and is then directed to the sample through the objective.
