The Modern Chinese Dictionary has been an official publication since 1978. This current version of The Modern Chinese Dictionary is updated to better fit society within the 21st century. Its contents have been revised numerous times since its original publication.
The Modern Chinese Dictionary (7th Edition) has been revised featurning the Common Standard Chinese Characters Table released by the State Council in June, 2013.This expanded version includes more than 400 new words and supplemented with 100 items and their meanings. These updates reflect the changes in Chinese vocabulary and the government's rulings in relation to language development and word selection. Deletions of archaic words and revisions to over 700 word definitions and examples have been implemented in response to readers' and experts' contribrutions.
This book has been edited by the Dictionary Editorial Office, Language Institute, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
