The therapeutic methods of Transactional Analysis have evolved over the past 50 years. This book will include contributions from several author; each will present their unique focus on how TA is used in their psychotherapy practice. Many concepts and methods have emerged and been subject to clinical experimentation, some have been refined and expanded and some are no longer used.
It will be written for both psychotherapists and counselors who want to learn and refine their knowledge of contemporary TA methods that are most effective with today's clients. This book will address the therapeutic effectiveness of various methods such as explanation, interpretation, confrontation, contracts, empty-chair, redecision, reparenting, self-reparenting, inquiry, attunement, relational involvement, co-created narratives, body work, transactions & transference, supportive regression & deconfusion of Child Ego states, decontamination & decommissioning of Parent ego states. The authors will be asked to describe the methods that they currently use in their psychotherapy and counseling practices.
Each chapter will begin with a detailed description of the methods highlighted in that chapter.This may include some review of the TA or other relevant literature. The core of each chapter will be either a case presentation or a verbatim transcript of a psychotherapy or counseling session, followed by descriptive annotations.
