Obturation in Endodontics
The goal of the book is to understand endodontic obturation of a root-canal system that is to fill empty spaces, promote hermetic sealing, and prevent bacterial activity from infiltrating the periapical tissues. Various techniques, such as lateral compaction, warm vertical compaction, and carrier-based obturation, have been reported in the scientific literature. Although gutta-percha has been a consistent material used in canal obturation for the last 40 years, techniques and sealers have changed during that time.
It has been reported that bioceramic sealers are nontoxic, are hydrophilic, expand upon setting, and are antimicrobial. In regard to sealers, the most current trend is the bioceramic sealer.
