This book represents the culmination of a multi-year project sponsored by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada designed to improve the training of university faculty in the study and teaching of antisemitism and other forms of prejudice and racism. It is therefore deliberately organized around specific concepts instead of chronology or geography. In contrast to other volumes often found on course syllabi, this volume is informed by the insight that there is neither a single way to think about antisemitism, nor an unambiguous, universally accepted definition of the term itself.
It aims to promote conversations across disciplinary, geographic, and thematic lines, rather than to promote a theoretical framework that unifies the study of antisemitism within a single field or coherent narrative.Conceived as a pedagogical tool for instructors teaching undergraduate
