A Managerial Perspective on the Process of Cross-Border M&A as a Challenge for Sustainable Business
There are different approaches to examining the issue of M&A. They come with pitfalls in the form of unfamiliar legislation, unique cultural expectations, different languages and other barriers not present in home-country deals. In addition, cross-border mergers and acquisitions are often a much more complex process compared to domestic transactions.
In addition, each transaction is unique. As already mentioned, the process side of mergers and acquisitions is also closely connected with a wide range of social, organizational, and cultural aspects and problems that accompany this process in the pre-, during and post-integration period. Despite the growing research on the role of psychological factors in cross-border M&A activities, there remain challenges in this stream of research.
Human side of cross-border M&A implies interdisciplinary nature of this topic that involves complex theoretical perspectives and contextual approaches. This became the impetus for our decision to carry out research that would advance the state of knowledge in the field of cross-border mergers and acquisitions by adding new pieces of knowledge integrating the concept of behavioral economics and sustainability.
